At TYSONCOOPER, we have recently just had the pleasure of adding the Q8 E-Tron to our fleet. With test driving it being the first thing we did, here are our facts and thoughts.
Audi give you the choice of either the Sportback, or the SUV version. Depending on what your priority is for the vehicle, this gives you two different designs within one model range.
The highly desirable Audi Q8 is Audi’s halo electric range. When you sit behind the wheel, you know you’re in Audi’s flagship model. The quality of materials, and the way all the controls are presented to you, is something rather special. It comes as standard with Audi’s legendary all-wheel drive system.
When you are behind the wheel, the quality and refinement is extended to the driver. It is evident the vehicle is exceptionally capable and refined. Due to the vehicle being extraordinarily quiet within the cabin, Audi engineers have introduced subtle engine noise back into the cabin via the speakers to enhance driver feedback.
The infotainment system has all the usual latest features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which will help to future proof for many years to come. This is all controlled by a central touch screen, which is very intuitive to use. Bang and Olufsen of Denmark provide a bespoke high end audio experience.
There are some very clever design features to make living with an electric car very easy. Anyone who has driven and used an electric car would have discovered when charging, charging ports are not always in the most convenient places. Audi designers have overcome this by giving you the option of charging ports on either side of the vehicle. Whilst this may seem the very basic feature, you will soon realise how useful and convenient this very simple feature is.
The vehicle is equipped with a large 569 litre boot, this is bigger than many rivals, it will leave you with an abundance of space, whatever your lifestyle requires.
The Q8 comes with two battery sizes, to maintain the highest level of performance. The ’50 Quattro’ models offer a 96-kWh unit that features a range of up to 283 miles, and a power of 340PS. On the other hand, the ’55 Quattro’ models come with a larger 114-kWh battery, stretching to an impressive power of 408PS and an amazing, extended range of up to 333 miles. The perfect balance of power and range.
